Author Notes: This salad has something in common with salade Niçoise, though not in its strictest sense: In his 1972 cookbook La Cuisine du Comté de Nice, the city’s mayor Jacques Medécin lamented the bastardization of the dish, complaining that “all over the world, horrified, I have seen the remains of other people’s meals being served under the name salade Nicoise.”
Low-Key Niçoise Salad
Serves 2
- 2hard-boiled eggs, roughly chopped
- 11 can tuna or 6.7-oz. jar tuna fillets
- 1/2an avocado, roughly chopped
- 1/2cup Kalamata olives, halved
- Fresh dill, chopped, to taste (about 1/4 cup)
- 3tablespoons olive oil
- Sea salt and black pepper
- Combine in a bowl and enjoy.
