Delicious and gorgeous walnut pie will have everyone going back for seconds. Sweetened with apple, orange, and cinnamon, you won't be able to get enough!
WALNUT PIE [VEGAN]
INGREDIENTS
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup ground oats
3/4 cup walnuts
1/2 cup coconut sugar
2/3 cup apple sauce
1/2 cup sunflower oil
1/2 cup orange juice + 1 1/2 tsp. soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup ground oats
3/4 cup walnuts
1/2 cup coconut sugar
2/3 cup apple sauce
1/2 cup sunflower oil
1/2 cup orange juice + 1 1/2 tsp. soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
For the syrup:
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup water
PREPARATION
- In a bowl, mix flour with oats, nuts and spices. Put the apple sauce in a pan with the sugar on low heat until it dissolves. Add the oil as well, taking off the heat and stirring until well-mixed.
- Add the mixed flour, oats, nuts and spices to the pan. Stir. Add in the orange juice and soda mixture and stir again.
- Bake in a round tin in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 40-45 minutes. Let cool.
- In a saucepan, boil the sugar with water for a few minutes to make the syrup. Pour the hot syrup onto the cold walnut pie.
- Enjoy!
NOTES
You can make a cashew cream to decorate your walnut pie. Just soak a few cashews in hot water for 1 hour. Then beat them in a blender with a little agave, a little water (not too thick) and canegrass.
