A simple green smoothie recipe is the perfect way to get your daily dose of nutrient-dense
whole fruits and vegetables in an easy-to-drink treat while maintaining the benefits of naturally-occurring and craving-curbing plant-fiber to keep you feeling full and satiated after this light meal.
Unlike juicing that extracts fiber from fruits and vegetables, a good green smoothie recipe will keep the produce’s natural fiber. Fruit naturally contains fiber to slow absorption of fructose, the main sugar found in fruits. Without the fiber, a green juice can be injecting a massive amount of fructose into your system. Natural or not — too much fructose absorbed too quickly can put stress on your liver and cause you to gain unwanted weight.
Get your Greens in this Smoothie Recipe
A simple green smoothie recipe like this one is an easy way to start a love affair with leafy greens. If you’re a newbie to green smoothies, baby spinach is a great green to start with. It is soft, sweet, and blends well with almost anything without adding a bitter “green” taste. Once you get the hang of it, we recommend alternating your greens.
This green smoothie recipe would work well with anything from kale to carrot tops. Pack in as many greens as you like to get your daily serving of leafy greens and keep going with your day.

Healing Green Smoothie Recipe
While most nutrient-dense green smoothies can promote healing in the body, we’ve added a supercharged healing ingredient into this otherwise simple green smoothie recipe. Holy Basil aka Tulsi has been used medicinally for centuries to reduce stress, repair joints, improve digestion, and boost brain function. Holy Basil is well known to help relieve and heal respiratory problems such as asthma.
Feel free to substitute the Holy Basil tea in this recipe with any tea you like to supercharge your smoothie. Other teas we love include red rooibos, peppermint, and yerba mate.
Serves: 1
Prep time: 20-30 minutes
Ingredients:
8 ounces apple cider
1 ½ tablespoons dried Holy Basil (Tulsi)
12 ounces boiling water
¼ cup cashews, soaked for 20 minutes, drained and rinsed
2 handfuls baby spinach
2 dates, pitted
1 ripe pear, cut in half, seeded, quartered, chilled
1 packet Clean Daily Shake in Vanilla
Directions:
First, pour the apple cider into ice cube trays and freeze.
This is best done the evening before you want to make the drink.
Place the holy basil in a Mason jar then add the boiling water. Cover, let stand for 10 minutes, then strain and place in the fridge to chill.
When the ice cubes and tea are cooled, place all the ingredients in a blender and blend for 45 seconds, or until smooth and creamy.
