This recipe is so simple, yet so comforting on a cold day!
Warm Ginger Turmeric Milk [Vegan]
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups hot water
- 1 tablespoon hemp seeds (or 2 tablespoons raw cashews)
- 1/4 rounded teaspoon fresh ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon fresh turmeric (or 1/8 teaspoon ground)
- 1 Medjool date, pitted
Preparation
- Blend all the ingredients in a high speed blender for 30 seconds or until smooth and frothy!
Notes
If you don’t have any hemp seeds, this drink is also great with cashews (use 2 tablespoons). Hemp seeds do have a distinct taste, so if it’s not for you, I recommend using cashews as they have a lighter taste. If you don’t have any fresh turmeric (it can be hard to find), you can use ground turmeric. Keep in mind that fresh turmeric stains hands and surfaces, so wash your hands thoroughly after handling or use gloves. It usually goes away after a few washes. Despite that, fresh is always better! Use 2 dates or use maple syrup for a sweeter drink. If your blender is on the weaker side, strain your milk using a fine mesh sieve or nut milk bag. You can also add vanilla or cinnamon if desired.
