This crock pot recipe can easily be modified to include some foods that are to be avoided on
the cleanse if you are reintroducing them or simply not following a cleanse or elimination diet.
Processed meats and non-approved corn-fed beef can cause puffiness in the body along with more long-term severe side effects. Processed meat (think sausage, bacon, cold cuts) is a definite cause of cancer.
Factory-farmed grain-fed red meat is highly acidic to the body and taxing on our elimination organs as well as the environment. High use of hormones and antibiotics in animals raised for meat is harmful to humans and contains less protein and more unhealthy fats.
The lamb meat in this crock pot recipe is not only a great source of lean protein, it’s high in B vitamins, iron, and zinc to provide a functional meal to maintain essential muscle and energy levels without some of the side effects of less optimally sourced meats.
A Cleanse-Friendly Crock Pot Recipe
Serves: 4-6
Prep time: 20 minutes
Cook time: 6-8 hours
Ingredients:
1 ounce cremini mushrooms
10 small onions
2 medium sized carrots
4 celery stalks
1 pound grass fed lamb
2 bay leaves
32 ounces mushroom broth
2 sprigs of rosemary, well chopped
1 tablespoon sea salt
First, prep your vegetables. Slice the mushrooms in thirds. Peel the outer skin of the onions but leave them whole. Cut the carrots into large chunks as well as the celery.
Combine all the ingredients except the rosemary in a crock pot and set to low. Cook for 6-8 hours allowing the beef to become quite tender.
Finish with fresh chopped rosemary and seasoning the stew with sea salt then serve.
