Time to fight off and avoid catching the winter flu with this golden recipe!
All hail Kakadu Plum as it’s got your back all year round! This native ingredient boasts the highest levels of Vitamin C compared to any other fruit in the world and is an antioxidant powerhouse! The fruit is made up of antibacterial, anti fungal and anti viral agents and are a great addition to smoothies and shakes in the summer.
Kakadu Plum Turmeric Latte
Remember, stay warm and a little goes a long way!
Prep time: 5 min
Cook time: 30 min
Serves: 2 cups
Ingredients
2 Tbsp fresh turmeric, grated (ground is okay too)
5cm knob of fresh ginger, grated
½ Tsp peppercorns
½ Tsp vanilla bean extract
1 cinnamon stick or 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
4 cloves
½ Tsp Freeze Dried Kakadu Plum
2 cups full fat coconut milk or almond milk
2 cups coconut water
1-2 Tbsp coconut oil
2-4 Tbsp coconut nectar or honey
Gubinge Powder (see amount below)
Directions
Place all the ingredients, except for the Kakadu Plum powder, into a saucepan. Bring to the boil and simmer on low heat for approximately 20-30 minutes. The liquid should reduce to approximately two cups.
When the heat has been reduced, turn off and allow to cool
Pour the milk through a fine sieve and into two serving cups. Make sure the drink temp is below 60 degrees Celsius to ensure the Vitamin C from the Kakadu Plum is not destroyed. Once it’s below 60, add in the Kakadu Plum powder, stir through and enjoy!
