This hibiscus and rose cordial is a fresh, vibrant, and delightful beverage that tastes like a little sip of spring. The hibiscus and rose petals are simmered in a pot of water with a touch of agave and finished with a splash of lime juice to complete this simple but elegant drink.
HIBISCUS AND ROSE CORDIAL [VEGAN, GLUTEN-FREE]
INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 cup dried hibiscus flowers (see notes)
- 1/4 cup dried rose petals
- 3 cups water
- 1/3 cup agave syrup
- 1 lime, juiced
PREPARATION
- Add the dried flowers, water, and agave into a saucepan and bring it to a boil.
- Reduce the heat and bring it to a low simmer for 30 minutes.
- In the meanwhile, sterilize a glass bottle with boiling water and dry it with a kitchen towel.
After 30 minutes of simmering, take the cordial off the heat, stir in the lime juice, and leave the cordial to cool for at least 15 minutes. - Use a cheesecloth or kitchen cloth and a funnel to strain the cordial into the sterilized bottle.
- Taste it and add more agave if desired. Serve cold with sparkling water.
