Have you ever asked yourself a question: why our bodies break down over time?
The reason this breakdown occurs is actually very simple: the body stops responding to instructions from the genes because the right communication depends on having healthy cells in every tissue, organ and system of the body. This communication ensures that messages are delivered and received to modulate cell production, initiate and sustain cell repair, and perform other restorative processes. For example, if the heart cells do not get the right messages, they simply cannot carry out the genetic instructions to keep the heart functioning well. So our health depends on turning on the genes that communicate messages to the cells so that the cells can perform their functions. The molecules involved in this communication are called cell signaling molecules.
Cell signaling in the body stimulates the pathways for gene expression. These are genetic pathways that carry life-sustaining instructions from the genes to the cells so that the cells can keep the body healthy. This process is so vital that if any given system of your body were to suddenly stop making cell signaling molecules, that system would break down and fail in minutes! So to emphasize this again: cell signaling, and the gene expression that cell signaling facilitates, is what sustains life.
Another important thing to know is that during cellular respiration, the body produces small molecules with redox potential. These are redox molecules, many of which can perform cell signaling functions. Because of that these redox molecules constitute their own class of cell signaling molecules called redox signaling molecules. The term redox is scientific shorthand for reduction-oxidation reaction, which is a biologically important electron-transfer reaction that plays a significant support role in many of the body’s life-sustaining processes. Any cell signaling function carried out specifically by redox signaling molecules is known as redox signaling.
So why is redox signaling so important?
Redox signaling molecules are produced within every cell in the body and act as either cellular messengers or cellular activators. The activator molecules carry the messages that tell the cells to activate antioxidants stored in the body. As I am sure you know, antioxidants are chemicals that keep oxidative free radicals in check and prevent them from causing cellular damage. However, antioxidants will only work if activated by redox signaling molecules.
On the other hand, messenger molecules are responsible for enabling proper cell communication within the body to ensure optimal performance of the immune system. They also activate the immune system to protect against pathogens. So as you can see, the right level of redox signaling molecules is vital not only for people with autoimmunity, or cancer, but anybody who wants health and vitality.
Oxidative stress creates an imbalance between pro-oxidants and antioxidant systems in the body. An imbalance can be a result of several factors, such as: environmental pollutants and toxins, infections, poor diet, emotional toxicity, and radiation. To counter this, the body utilizes redox signaling molecules to help maintain a healthy balance between pro-oxidants and antioxidants.
Our health depends on a balance between oxidative stress and antioxidant signaling. As we age, and as stress and environmental toxins saturate our lives, our defences weaken and our normal cellular function declines. As a result, the body’s ability to produce and maintain a proper balance of redox signaling molecules also declines.
So what can we do about it?
For many years, researchers have explored ways to supplement redox signaling molecules in the body to combat the effects of age, toxins, and environmental stress. To date, there is only one product that replicates these naturally occurring molecules outside of the body. This is done in a patented process using the same building blocks the body uses: salt and water. This supplement has been scientifically shown to benefit gene expression in the following genetic pathways:
- immune system
- hormonal balance
- inflammatory response modulation
- digestive function
- vascular health
Coincidently (or not), these are crucial areas to address for anyone wanting to heal from autoimmunity!
Redox signaling is a maturing area of research within the fields of cell biology and metabolic studies. A peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to understanding the vital impact of redox processes on human health and disease was established in 1999. The number of peer-reviewed papers on the topic is somewhere in the tens of thousands by now!

As a nutritionist, I believe in individual prescription. This is why you will only see me recommend supplements on extremely rare occasions. In this case, I have been using and researching this supplement for 8 months now and I absolutely believe that this is one of this very rare supplements that can benefit most people. This is because of the fundamental level at which it works.
I was fortunate to have had access to it after my horrible bike accident and the speed with which I was able to heal the hematoma, edema, and the bone tissue itself was incredible! I also find it has improved my ability to detoxify and my energy levels have never been better. I take this supplement before I exercise and it makes my running so much better and so much more enjoyable. What is also interesting is that I used to take a number of supplements to improve my detoxification pathways and mitochondrial function, which I have now stopped taking as I do not feel I need them anymore.
