Looking for something to jolt the senses from a mid-week slump? Head to Hotal Colombo every Tuesday and Wednesday this November for a new dinner menu curated around Sri Lankan street snacks. At HK$300 per person, you can head on a rollicking journey through Colombo’s best-loved street snacks and end with your choice of chicken or fish kari (Sri Lankan-style curry), made from chef Gizzy’s own family recipes passed down from her grandmother. The street snacks on offer are sure to sate any appetite for spice, with a selection of Hotel Colombo’s beloved chilli potato fries to fish cutlets with hot sauce, bowl-shaped hoppers served with the saucy trifecta of kiri hodi, pol sambol and lunu miris and more.
‘Rough Bites’ at Vibes
Vibes, one of Tsim Sha Tsui’s best loved al fresco lounges, is offering a revamped menu of moreish bar bites perfect for the hungry after-work crowd. Curated by the hotel’s newly appointed executive chef, Sheldon Fonseca, the menu is a mix of crowd-pleasing favourites such as loaded tater tots to Spanish-inspired classics such as pulpo a la Gallega (grilled octopus with caper leaves and smoked paprika), Japanese izakaya staples such as the fried chicken Sando to a new Impossible burger with barbecue sauce and of course, the Instagram dish du jour — the creamy, caramelised Basque cheesecake.
Upper House Farmer’s Market
When: 14–15 November, 10am–4pm
Every Tuesday to Sunday evening of late, the sixth floor lawn of The Upper House has transformed from café and well-documented yogi hotspot to a dedicated wine and cheese hangout with C’est Cheese, the house fromagerie pop-up.
This weekend, the hotel extends its curated cheese selection to the daytime: It’s hosting an inaugural pet-friendly Farmer’s Market, where you can savour gourmet cheeses, craft spirits, wines and fresh oysters. It’s the perfect opportunity for some early holiday shopping for your epicurean friend or yourself, with workshops on site hosted by The Floristry for you to create your own fresh bouquet.
